From GCU to NAU

This week was full of ups and downs, but God got me through it just like he always does. On Monday I finally got to take dance class at my old dance studio and it felt like I never left. Except for the fact that I am no longer  part of the performance company. I have missed performing and competing so I have decided to audition for my schools dance team. The team is awesome and it would be such a great experience. The dance team looks like it is hard to get on so I am going to have to work extremely hard to reach this goal. On Wednesday I went to life group and my life leader was talking about judgment and how we are not supposed to judge, even though it is really hard. I have been working on it this week and I have discovered that sometimes without even knowing it, we judge people for the smallest things. Maybe not for what they are wearing, but for the way they eat a lollipop or how they stand at a concert. Speaking of concerts Wren and I went up to NAU, Northern Arizona Universty, to see Ashaliegh and to see this band called Tow'rs.
They are an American Folk band and they are sooooo good! They are in spotify and iTunes if you ever want to hear their music. Which you should.  Also in Flagstaff we went and saw the Phoenix Suns Scrimage game. It was really fun to be able to as the Suns palg against each other.
As the week comes to an end I am very thankful that I had another fun week to live. On Instagram the past few days I have been reading about a lot of young men being in critical condition in the ICU to even passing away. These boys have parents and friends who loved them and I couldn't even imagine loosing my brothers to accidents like these. One boy who touched my heart wand 16 year old Buddy wentworth.
He was a rider who was given the power award at MXON for being an aorta ding rider. He seems like an awesome guy who just wanted to have fun. As you can see in this picture. He crashed and had brain swelling and collapsed lungs. He infortunately didn't make it out of the hospital and I think the thins that got me the most about his passing was the fact that I thought we was going to be okay. I have only ever seen these youg men make it through like Bruce Cook who was paralyzed and is know beig able to ride his dirtbike again. There are plenty of success stories when it comes to riders falling and getting back up. For this young man, however he didn't back up. Don't be sad I have heard there was awesome tracks in heaven. This week was very insightful for me and I am glad I could share it with you.
Until next week,

These past weeks.

These past weeks have been really awesome and also really hard. I have not  posted in a few weeks because a lot has been going on. There was GO Week, exams, and essays due.  There has been a lot so her is a recap of the past couple weeks.
Go Week is a week that talks about global outreach and missions and such things. I have decided not to go on a missions trip this year, butI will try for one next year. There is this really cool thing they do during GO Week and it is called "Prayer for the Nations" the LOGO's team (local outreach and global outreach), puts two huge blackboards out by the Student Union and people can write prayers for the nations or for anything else they want to pray for. I thought this idea was really cool so I wrote on the board and you will just have to find what I wrote.

I think these boards came out really cool with all the different colors and styles of writing.

Along with GO Week and the missions we also went to this cute little antique road show called "Junk in the Trunk" for my friends, friend who has total kidney failure. We went to the show and bought these really cool shirts that say give "give life" along with the shirt there was this really cool bracelet that has 2 Corinthians 9:7  on them which says "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" I think that verse is so awesome because it is so true. Spencer is the girl who will be getting a kidney from her sister and this is their story through the eyes of Spencer " Twenty five million  American adults, including myself suffer from Chronic Kidney Disease. My name is Spencer and this year my disease has progressed to Stage 5 Renal Failure. Fortunately, my sister Kylie is a compatible living donor, sharing her love and giving me the gift of life on October 3, 2014. Kylie and I are compelled to bring awareness to the need for Organ Donation". That is some of their story and I cant wait to see how this experience changes their lives. You can keep updated on this two awesome women in Instagram @royalbowtique.
The past few weeks have been full of fun times, but one thing that happened that I really didnt realize would happen was being homesick. I only live 20 minutes from campus, but not seeing my family everyday is a lot harder than I thought. I live with a girl who is from the good ole state of Minnesota and she made me think about what real homesickness means. If that is even a word.  She cant go home all the time like I can and she has made me realize that even when I do not want to be with my family, I need to be thankful that they are here. She doesn't get to see her family until Christmas and I could never imagine that.
College is full of new experiences and journeys that I am happy to have but college also comes with sadness and hard times. All I can say without God I could not get through all of this. He really does give me strength and he is always there when i need him.
    Until next week. Maybe.

What a week it was

This week was fun for the most part. I had a few downs, but this week was full of ups. On Friday after class my sister and I went up to flagstaff to see our bestest friend Ashleigh and I have never been so excited to see Ashleigh. We brought her back down the the valley and here came the down; we had to leave her again. The next day was tons of fun!
For Labor Day the family went to mile marker 12 for some dirtbike riding. This is definitely a family favorite and we even got to bring my little niece to get her first taste of what this fine machines are all about. We crashed and got bruises but we never had a bad moment. Which for is Doyle's is rare. Riding with the family made me realize that you have to have the bad days in order to love the good days. My friend told me once that if you expect the good things all the time then the good things cannot be a gift. That day at mile marker 12 was a true gift.
Wednesday came and it was back to school. I love my classes, but sometimes I have no idea how I will get things done. I did however and then Friday came and I went to this worship thing that all the GCU students go to called Renew and I was feeling uneasy do to something's that have happened during the day and a few  days back. I won't go into the details but I will say that everything turned out okay. This week was one of the craziest and it has taught me a lot about me self.

Week one is over!

I had no idea living the lope life was going to consist of so much homework! I had to do a time management assignment and I realized that my time consists of sleeping, eating and doing homework with my roommates. While everyone is at the pool or playing ping pong I am in my room looking deep into my computer screen doing University Success, a class that is supposed to teach us students about the Loud Cloud. Loud Cloud is a program used to turn in assignments and other things. Well  I have discovered a couple things about college that are awesome and some things that are not so awesome.
The awesome  things are
-All the nice people and friends I have made
-All the guys that hold the door open for you
- The breakfast burritos
-Food is love

Things that are not awesome
-Walking to class
-I can't poop in the toilet in my dorm(its not the same as my toilet)
-All the homework I have to do
-All the stairs
-The fact that basketball hasn't started yet

I have made lots of friends this far and my roommates are awesome! My life group is really great and I love my life leader Chelsea Mune. She is the best person! She has a fear of windmills and she lives in California. i think it is the funniest thing ever and interesting. My roommate Jo is also awesome.  She is from Woodbury Minnesota and she cracks me up all day. We are in a "squad" with Wren and her roommate Kourtlyn.
One exciting thing about GCU is The Havoc, which is a part of the student section that is loud and crazy. Wren, Jo, Kourtlyn and I are joining The Havoc and we are super eccentric because we like to be loud and crazy. This probably the best thing about this school so far.

Well until next friday I am over and out.

Welcome Week!

I woke up August 20th with a nervous feeling because I was leaving my home with my comfy bed and my family that I have lived with for 18 years. The one thing I was really nervous for was not sharing a room with my twin. She is in Oco Taco(Ocotillo Hall) a hall away. Its only a five minute walk but, it feels like forever when I am used to her being right next to me.
When I pulled up with all of my dorm stuff the Welcome Week volunteers were screaming and I really didn't want to get out of the car. As I  made my way up to my dorm I was excited to meet the people I will be spending the next few months with. My roommates name is Sofia and she is really nice. We get along really well which is awesome.  The girl across the living room is Kelsey but I call her Jo. She is super fun and we get along really well she is like my sister. She is from Minnesota and up there crocs are a huge thing.  Shannon came a little late but, that all good. She is really chill and easy to get along with.
I have done lots of stuff during WelcomeWeek but my favorite by far has been Ignite. All the freshman go to this field and we light candles and the student body president prayed for the freshman and our school year to kick butt. It was really awesome! The second best was the mash up, where these students put on a skit to show what freshman year is all about. The students were so hilarious I went twice!

Tomorrow I have the Switch Foot concert and I am really excited to go because  GCU students get in for free also I have never been to one of their concerts I'm thinking Switch Foot will be fun. There are going to be plenty of concerts this year and I plan on going to most of them.
I was really scared to start college but, I have come to realize that college is going to be fun and these are the moments we live for. Where we meet long lasting friends and where our careers take flight.
